Bio

The husband and wife song writing duo, of guitarist Tony Hamera and vocalist Kate Hinote, began their creative experiment in 2004. However, it would not be until 2008 that the couple would find their creative centers as well as the critical pieces which would make up The Blueflowers: drummer Marvin Shaouni, bassist Erica Stephens, and David Johnson on acoustic guitar. After many months of writing, rehearsals, and live shows, The Blueflowers debut album Watercolor Ghost Town was released in 2009.

With drummer Jim Faulkner and keyboardist/backup singer Erin Williams coming into the fold in 2010, The Blueflowers released their sophomore effort in March 2011 entitled In Line With The Broken-Hearted. As with their debut, it was independently recorded and produced by guitarist and co-songwriter, Tony Hamera. In Line With The Broken-Hearted was named Detroit’s best indie release of 2011 by Brett Callwood of Metro Times Detroit.

Their lineup solidified, Stealing the Moon was released in June 2012. Hamera cites the vintage sounds of Roy Orbison, The Zombies and The Walker Brothers along with modern groups like Mazzy Star, Neko Case and Nick Cave as influences for the group and production styles. “Think Phil Spector meets David Lynch...,” he states.
