7/19/2018 Sponge Signs Exclusive Worldwide Copyright Administration Agreement With North Star Media

We are excited to announce that Vin Dombroski, lead singer of Sponge, has signed an exclusive worldwide copyright administration deal with North Star Media!

On the signing, Vin said: “I’m really looking forward to working more closely with my North Star team. Their hands-on approach is a breath of fresh air; they’re workin’ it and livin’ it every day. I’m grateful to partner with such an awesome local, Detroit-based publishing company that has international reach and resources while being available 24/7. And they’ve got damn good whiskey, too!”

Sponge, a Detroit alt rock band formed in 1991, released their debut LP (Rotting Piñata) on Sony Records in 1994. The album, which featured the hit singles “Molly (16 Candles Down The Drain)” and “Plowed”, stayed on the Billboard 200 chart for 40 weeks, reached #4 on the US Heatseekers chart, and is certified gold. “Molly” and “Plowed” reached #3 and #5, respectively, on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. During this time period, Sponge received massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast, and they were in non-stop, heavy rotation on MTV. Their second studio album, Wax Ecstatic, was released on Columbia Records in 1996 and peaked at #60 on the Billboard 200 chart. The singles, “Wax Ecstatic (To Sell Angelina)” and “Have You Seen Mary”, reached #11 and #7, respectively, on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
