Since vocalist and songwriter Alisha Zalkin and guitarist, songwriter and producer Dan Kalisher formed Sleep Machine in 2014, the Los Angeles-based rock duo have had 20+ original song placements on several network and cable TV shows and commercials. After releasing two award-winning EPs and playing all over the LA club scene, they retreated from the stage to get in touch with their roots. “We were trying to think of what to say next, and what direction we wanted to take moving forward,” says Kalisher, “and we found the best way to do that was just to stay true to ourselves.” Drawing influence and comparisons to bands like Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, and The Eagles, Sleep Machine is poised to be rock and roll’s next great band. “With the current political climate and all the chaos happening in the world, we felt it was our responsibility as artists to use this next record as a vehicle to speak up and add value to the conversation,” says Zalkin. Sleep Machine’s debut full-legnth, which was recently crowned Best Rock Album at the 16th Independent Music Awards, will be released in early 2019.
